Health Visitors

The Health Visitors can be contacted via the main surgery number or on their own dedicated number 01235 816325. Messages can be left if no Health Visitor is immediately available to take your call.

Health Visitors are an integrated part of the NHS community health services. They are nurses with a higher education qualification & unique skills & training in promoting family & public health.

Health Visitors work to help themselves, the aim of their work is to:

  • Promote the health of the whole community
  • Help people to reach their optimum health through the prevention of disease
  • Help to promote health in the widest sense, including physical, mental and social well being

Every family with children under 5 years has a named health visitor, but ANYONE can access the Health Visiting Service for advice or support.

The assessment of health needs is the basis of the Health Visitor’s daily work. This occurs through contacts with families and individuals, working with groups & wide scale public health initiatives.

Health Visitor Pre-Bookable Clinic are held on Monday afternoons at the practice. Ring 01235 810099 to make an appointment.

Midwives

We have two midwives attached to the practice. They carry out most of the routine ante natal checks at the surgery, and visit mum and baby at home within the first 7 days after the birth of the baby.

They are available for advice and services and can be contacted via the Midwives’ Office on 01235 814627

Counselling Services

We have one counsellor attached to the practice. Counselling funded by the NHS is only available via a referral from your GP. Unfortunately the amount of counselling funded by the NHS is very limited.
