Midwives
The midwives are now based at Wallingford Community Hospital. To speak to a midwife call Wallingford Hospital on 01491 826037.
The midwives are responsible for the majority of antenatal care. They will plan, in consultation with the mum-to-be, the most appropriate care pathway taking into consideration medical, maternity and social histories.
They provide an ‘on call’ service and will care for women wishing to have their babies delivered either at home or in St George’s Maternity Ward - a midwife led unit located in Wallingford Community Hospital.
New mums and their families will be supported by the midwives during the first two weeks following childbirth; care is then handed over to the Health Visitors.
